The Candy Girls

I want to introduce you to one of my vintage English acts The Candy Girls

The Candy Girls was founded five years ago by Elkie Jeffery (aka Annie Daisy) when she was singing with Debbie Watt and Freyja Sculpher (aka Lady Jane and Lizzy Lou) in another band – she realised how well their voices blended and how much they all enjoyed working together. Elkie has always loved all things vintage so starting a three-part harmony group seemed like an obvious step and The Candy Girls was born!

The girls pride themselves on their vocal blend and work hard to create that “one voice” sound synonymous with quality close harmony singing. They like to challenge themselves in bringing harmonies closer together to create that authentic sound. Their influences include The Andrews Sisters, Connie Francis, The Puppini Sisters and Post Modern Jukebox.

To set themselves apart from other vintage trios, all their songs are fully choreographed so the show really is all-singing, all-dancing – the girls spend hours in rehearsal studios tightening up their moves and working to incorporate props so the show is visually spectacular as well!

Another unique feature is that the girls all have individual characters which come out during the show – our blonde bombshell Lizzy Lou likes to flirt with the men in the audience (so watch out guys!), our glamorous Lady Jane is true a sparkling starlet and loves to show off her wonderful dance skills, and as for Annie Daisy, boy, that girl is crazy! The girls each have featured songs to show off their  characters.

They are great friends both on and off stage and love spending time together at gigs and on tour, as well as socially. So far they have made it to various countries in Europe but they would love to take The Candy Girls to the USA – they’re sure these charming English girls would delight American audiences! They dream of taking their show to Hollywood, the glamorous town that inspired them to create the worlds only Singing Usherettes show.

Their professional credits between them include Les Miserable at the Palace Theatre London, Starlight Express at Theater Bochum Germany, Thriller (UK tour), Magic of the Musicals (UK tour), Abba Mania International Tour, Spirit of the Dance (USA tour) and Rat pack Live in Concert (USA and India tour). They have appeared at several Royal Gala’s (singing for the Queen no less!) and at high profile events performing for the likes of Richard Branson, Jamie Oliver, Chris Evans and the King of Sweden.

The Candy Girls have different themed shows to choose from; Wartime nostalgia show – a rousing and heartfelt tribute to the music of the 1940s; this variety show is packed with songs from the stars of the era, including Glen Miller, The Andrews Sisters and Vera Lynn, as well as traditional sing-along songs that will have you swaying in your seats. Dressed in replica WAAF uniforms, performing in authentic three-part harmony, dancing in the style of the era and even singing in four different languages, The Candy Girls present a truly international salute to the morale-boosting music of our finest generation.
